Frequently Asked Questions

What types of massage do you offer?

I specialize in therapeutic massage tailored to your needs. I create customized sessions using Swedish relaxation, Deep Tissue massage, Pain Relief and Trigger Point Therapy, Fire or Silicone cupping, Guasha, Hot Stone, and Myofascial Release. Whether you’re looking to relieve tension, address chronic pain, or simply relax, I can create a session that’s just right for you.

What is the difference between Swedish and Deep Tissue massage?

  • Swedish Massage uses long flowing strokes of light to medium pressure to promote relaxation and improve circulation-perfect for stress relief and general wellness.

  • Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, using slower, more targeted pressure to address chronic tension, pain, and muscle knots. Deep tissue massage is a technique not a pressure.

How long is a typical massage session?

I offer 60 and 90 minute sessions. The duration of your scheduled time includes the time it takes to discuss your needs for the session, the time it takes you to undress and get situated on the table and the massage itself. If you are late or take an extended period of time to get on the table it is important to note that your session will still end at the scheduled time. This is to ensure an on-time start for clients scheduled after you. If it is by my fault that I am running behind, I will communicate clearly and make the necessary schedule adjustments.

Do I need to undress completely for my massage?

No. You only need to undress to your comfort level and you will be fully and appropriately draped at all times. Before I leave the room for you to get on the table I will instruct you to “disrobe to your comfort level and be sure you are covered by the top sheet and blanket before clearing me to re-enter. The more you take off the better so that I may more fully address the pain sources.”

Will the massage hurt?

Massage should feel therapeutic- not painful. You may experience some discomfort during targeted deep tissue work, but I will always address the pressure to your comfort level. Communication is key! My work is often described as “intense, but necessary”.

How often should I get massage?

For general wellness, once a month is common. For pain management or injury recovery, weekly or bi-weekly may be more beneficial.

Can massage help with chronic pain or injuries?

Yes. Massage can reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow and promote healing. Many clients find relief from back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, and injuries.

Are there any reasons I shouldn’t get a massage?

Massage is generally safe, however there are certain medical conditions in which massage should be avoided. You should never receive massage if you have a fever, contagious conditions (airborne, skin or otherwise). Always talk with your doctor if you are unsure. If there is a contraindication in your medical history, I may ask for a doctor’s approval to work on you. I have a very strict illness policy.

What should I do to prepare for my massage?

  • Drink water before and after your session

  • Avoid heavy meals before your session

  • Wear comfortable clothing

  • Remove jewelry and watches

  • Arrive early for in studio sessions

  • Use the restroom before you get on the table
